Ports – Argentina

With an extensive coastline along the Atlantic Ocean, Argentina has many ports that serve both domestic and international needs. Here are some of the most significant ports in Argentina:

  1. Puerto de Buenos Aires – The main port of the country, located in the capital. It is the largest and most active port in Argentina and plays an important role in the country’s economy. It handles both cargo and passenger traffic, including extensive cruise lines.
  2. Puerto de Rosario – Located in the province of Santa Fe, on the Paraná River, it is one of the country’s main river ports, specialising in agricultural exports, including grain and soybeans.
  3. Puerto de Mar del Plata – Known not only as a tourist attraction but also as an important fishing port that also handles cargo and passenger traffic.
  4. Puerto de Bahía Blanca – Specialises in petroleum and chemical products as well as agricultural processing. It is one of the country’s main export ports.
  5. Puerto de Ushuaia – Located at the southernmost end of the country, at Tierra del Fuego. This port is known as the gateway to Antarctica and is popular with cruise ships and also caters to local shipping and tourism.
  6. Puerto Madryn – Located in the province of Chubut, it is an important hub for the aluminium industry and other industrial cargo, as well as a tourist destination for whale watching and other marine animals.
