Bangladesh, located on the coast of the Bay of Bengal, has a number of ports that play an important role in its economy and trade. Here are some of the major ports in Bangladesh:
- Port of Chittagong – It is the largest port in Bangladesh and one of the largest ports in South Asia. Located in the city of Chittagong in the south-east of the country, it handles a significant volume of cargo, including containers, bulk cargo, general cargo and petroleum products.
- Port of Mongla – Located on the Pasur River, the Port of Mongla serves the western part of Bangladesh as well as the Indian Ocean areas of the country. This port also handles a wide range of cargo including containers, bulk cargo and general cargo.
- Port of Payra – This is a relatively new port strategically located in central Bangladesh on the Paikgachha River, close to the Bay of Bengal. It has been developed to improve logistics and service to the south and central regions of the country.
