Cyprus, located in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea, is an important commercial and tourist centre in the region. Cyprus ports play a key role in the country’s economy, transporting goods and attracting tourists. In this article we will look at the main ports of Cyprus, their location and functions.

  1. Port of Limassol: It is the largest port in Cyprus, located on the south coast of the island. The Port of Limassol is the main commercial and passenger port serving container and cruise ships. It plays an important role in the export and import of goods and is also a popular port of call for cruise ships.
  2. Port of Larnaca: Located on the south-east coast of Cyprus, the Port of Larnaca serves both cargo and passenger vessels. It is also an important centre for fishing and yachting, attracting many tourists.
  3. Famagusta Port: Located on the east coast of the island, in the part controlled by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The port of Famagusta is used for trade and cargo transport and also caters for passenger ships.
  4. Port of Kyrenia: Also located in the northern part of Cyprus, the Port of Kyrenia is the main port of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. This port specialises in serving passenger ships and yachts, being an important centre for tourism and fishing.
  5. Port of Vasiliko: This is a specialised port located on the south coast for oil tanker services and handling of oil products. Vassiliko Port plays a key role in the energy infrastructure of Cyprus.
